AlloDerm is a Regenerative Tissue Matrix (RTM) often used to optimize the breast reconstruction with expanders and implants. It is donated human skin that is processed to remove all cells, leaving a scaffold of collagen and supportive tissue. Dr. Parva uses this tissue at the time of the 1st stage expander placement to bridge the pectoralis muscle and chest wall. The advantages include:

  • Assist in complete coverage of the expander, along with the muscle.
  • Precisely position the expander by creating the pocket location with the AlloDerm graft.
  • Add extra tissue to the lower portion of the breast where the skin and soft tissues are thinner.
